It has long been felt that the bolted connections in multi-storey steel frames have been the Achilles' heel in fire resistant design. The connection is a critical element of the frame and is seldom treated as such. Boltcap H&S Data

No special precautions are necessary when using Typhoon Boltcaps, as they are manufactured from a specially formulated thermoset polyester which is stable and inert under normal atmospheric conditions. When subject to prolonged exposure above 1,200 degrees C the Cap will gradually decompose leaving a grey powder deposit with no harmful by-products.

Reasonable care should be taken when installing to avoid contact with the internal steel clips. Boltcaps may be disposed of as normal household waste where permitted by the Local Authority.
